Each month, we will share with you what we are reading, inshaa Allah. Each post will include books read by all our family members for expanding our knowledge for homesteading, health and nutrition, learning new skills, self-help, school, and beneficial enjoyment. You will notice that a couple may be classified as fiction books, but they have been carefully chosen to meet our criteria, which means they are based on true stories and experiences with names and minor details changed for anonymity. As with all things, we take the good from these books and align or enhance them with Islamic legislation, and discard the rest. You can click on a book cover to find out more about it.
A family with a mission: to escape the fitna (trials) of this worldly life by getting away from it all and living according to Allah's Perfect Decree to the best of our ability; to heal the earth through our most perfect examples in the Qur'an and the Sunnah, which in turn heals ourselves; and to teach others how to do the same, and give them a place to go where Islam can be lived and a life of worship enjoyed, in shaa Allah.

Asalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
ReplyDeleteI've read the Chinese Cinderella book. It is based on the author's life , if I remember correctly. She has many books, which are based on her life experiences. Love that you'll be sharing what your family is reading with us!

As'salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa baraktuh! Alhamdulillah. I'm so happy you shared these books. This is really helpful masha'Allah. I have ttying to improve my position with Allah for years and finding your other blog and the Yemeni Journey Blog prove that their are families striving to incorporate this deen to the fullest in their everyday lives and are really doing it!!!! May Allah azza wa jal make you and your family bettrr than you appear Ameen. Sister if you have any older post that depict your growth as a family I really appreciate if you would share. I use your blog and the other blog to work with my older children to show them people are applying the deen and enjoying life. One difference is that your kids have the benefit of you being on right guidance since their youth. I you have more books to share please do. I recently vowed to go through my younger children current library to get rid of fiction books and replace with better alternatives. With Allah lies our success!
ReplyDeleteWa alaykum as salaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu sister Rumaysa!
DeleteBarak Allahu feekee and may Allah bless you with even more than you have wished for us - ameen!
This blog is relatively new compared to my main blog, Mai to the Extreme. There I posted under parenting about wanting to make the change to non-fiction a few years ago. It has been a process since then that is really coming together well now maashaa Allah. I am a bit late this month, but I will be posting what we are reading every month inshaa Allah, with the exact aim of showing better and enjoyable alternatives bi idhn Illah ta'ala.
I will eventually copy all the parenting posts to this blog, which will help show how we implement Islam in our lives inshaa Allah. I have loads more to post as we continue on our journey with our children, inshaa Allah, that may inspire and motivate you and yours.
Even though our children are born Muslims, it has still been a process maashaa Allah. As we have learned, we have made changes that are more pleasing to Allah, subhaana wa ta'ala. We have explained to them and given them the proofs prior to any changes. This has helped, but still it is a matter of patience, perseverance, and guiding them to what is beneficial, halal, and fun for them. Yes, truly with Allah lies our success...and may we be blessed with the ultimate success in this life and the next - ameen!
