Fire!

One of the things to consider when living in a remote or rural location is natural disasters and emergencies.

On 6 June, a fire started near the border of the Bell Ranch. The ranch is a bout 39 miles (63 km) away. Here are some pictures...

It rained a bit yesterday, but it wasn't enough to put out the fire. We ask that you pray for the safety of the firefighters, neighbors, animals, and property of the people.

  1. Assalaamu alaikum, I'm really interested to know what you did, of coruse after making du'aa, to protect yourselves and your property. Did you have a back up plan for if a fire ever started? I have absolutely no idea how homesteaders prep for this sort of thing, would be great to know! BaarakAllaahu feekum

    1. Wa alaykum ussalaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh yaa Umm Raadiyah (I am still wondering who you are, lol)

We do exactly as the Prophet - sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - did. We have conplete trust in Allah and His Perfect Plan and take basic, common sense precautions...otherwise known as tying one's camel.

An example: we have shipping containers for a masjid, an office, a barn, storage, and another designated as a kitchen with attached greenhouse. They are fireproof. We plan to build with cob - earthen buildings - which are also fireproof. These are the practical aspects, along with fire extinguishers and water tanks. But, ultimately, Allah is our Mawlaa - our Protector - and we trust and accept His Plan.

      Wa feekum Baarak Allah!
