People may ask what our children do, as they are on the farm with no outside friends, television, video games, or iPads. Well, aside from milking the cow, taking care of the animals and chickens, Islamic studies and homeschooling, and chores, they have several other interests.
They all are into jigsaw puzzles at the moment. 100 piece puzzles of dump trucks for our 5 year old and 1000 piece scenes for our older girls. They all like building things with Lego, wooden log cabin sets, train sets, and the like. They also love playing games like I Spy Eagle Eye, Spot It, Rock On, Wild Craft, Scrabble, Rush Hour, Tangram, Bananagrams, Catan, Qur'an and Hadith Challenge, etc.
They all love arts and crafts. They draw, paint, knit, crochet, sew, make bead jewelry, latch hook rugs, and are venturing into quilting insha'Allah. They make lip balms, soaps, lotions and potions for hair and skin.
They love cooking, especially making large batches of organic cookies, crackers, caramel popcorn, pizza, and cakes...so they can eat them.
They also love to read copious amounts of books, widely ranging from autobiographies to animal care and beyond. They enjoy harvesting interesting plants, fruits, and veggies from the land and identifying different wildlife.
They ride fat tire bikes and have mini dirt bikes.
They swing, trapeze, see saw, walk, run, and play. They have a dugout and are building a stone house.
Masha'Allah, they never have enough time to do all they want to, but al hamdulillah, they are never bored.
A family with a mission: to escape the fitna (trials) of this worldly life by getting away from it all and living according to Allah's Perfect Decree to the best of our ability; to heal the earth through our most perfect examples in the Qur'an and the Sunnah, which in turn heals ourselves; and to teach others how to do the same, and give them a place to go where Islam can be lived and a life of worship enjoyed, in shaa Allah.

I'm so happy to see all of the these updates and I pray Allah continues blessing your lives on the farm. Much good has happened in these years on my side too. I hope we can catch up soon!!

Wa alaykum ussalaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh! No need to remind me, Amina, I remember you well maashaa Allah! How are you and your family? Land in Florida?
DeleteMy girls are 12 & 15, my son is 5. We are all doing well, alhamdulillah, and life is busy all day, every day. Aside from our morning Islamic studies, afternoon homeschooling, animals, growing, and living from scratch, we have just started a farmer's market here, launched our daughters' NaturalCraft business, and have about four other projects in the works alhamdulillah.
Four Muslim families have bought land over the road and are planning to form a community with us here alhamdulillah. It is a collection of people only Allah could orchestrate. One student of knowledge is specializing in Arabic and tafseer, another is finishing up an Islamic PhD while teaching and giving dawah, one sister has her highest certification in hijama, another is a homesteading natural from Yemen. There is a Professor of Agriculture, two engineers - one of whom is specializing in natural building, at least one hafidh, and every family has one teacher and at least one fluent Arabic speaker. Allahu Akbar wa l'Illah il hamd!
If that isn't enough, June 8th is our scheduled date to get fiber optic cable internet service on our farm, so we will be able to fully operate from here, alhamdulillah.
So, what's happening with you? You still have my email? I'd be happy to hear from you. I never did post a pic of our grey abayas!
Assalamualikum,
ReplyDeleteCan you please continue posting ? It was wonderful reading your through your blog.
